Volleyball unites Europe: international match as part of the Mindplay project in Kaunas, Lithuania

Share:

From 9 to 11 September 2025, the city of Kaunas in Lithuania became a hub for sports, friendship and inspiration. As part of the Mindplay project, which explores the connection between sport and mental health, a three-day international event was held, bringing together coaches, youth workers and athletes from across three European countries.

One of the most exciting events was the international volleyball match held on the last day. Teams comprising representatives from partner organisations showcased their sportsmanship and skills, as well as the capacity of sport to foster connections between individuals.

The match aimed to demonstrate how physical activity can be a powerful tool for overcoming isolation and anxiety among young people. The court was filled with smiles, encouragement, and mutual respect, proving that sport is a universal language that connects people.

Afterwards, participants took part in a brainstorming session where they shared their thoughts on how team sports can promote mental well-being. The feedback gathered during the event will inform the further development of the training programme within the project.

Alongside sports activities, the programme included training sessions, cultural evenings and city walks to encourage intercultural exchange and community building.

The Kaunas event clearly demonstrated that Mindplay is not just a project, but an initiative that aims to create an environment where every young person feels heard, supported and valued.
