On 31 March 2026, the final conference of the Voices of Change project took place at the Europa Experience – David Sassoli Room in Rome, hosted by Roma Tre University. The project aimed to strengthen the democratic participation of young women with migrant backgrounds by creating opportunities for dialogue, civic engagement, and policy involvement at European level.
During the presentation of the project’s results, representatives of Roma Tre University explained the logic behind the initiative, which focused on training, participation, and policy proposals. Through webinars and discussions, participants developed a better understanding of democratic processes, strengthened their critical thinking skills, and contributed to policy recommendations. A key outcome of the project was creating a space where young migrant women could share their experiences and make their voices heard.
Participants then presented recommendations on ten important topics, including economic empowerment, mental health, digitalization of public services, social inclusion, and stronger involvement of migrant women in decision-making processes. Among the speakers was Katerina, a volunteer of Mundus Bulgaria from Greece who currently lives in Vratsa. Speaking on the topic of digitalization, she shared her experience with bureaucratic challenges faced as a migrant woman in Bulgaria and highlighted the need for more accessible and transparent public services.
The event concluded with an open dialogue with institutional representatives, including Benedetta Scuderi, Member of the European Parliament and member of the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM). The discussion provided participants with an opportunity to exchange views directly with policymakers and reinforced the importance of ensuring that citizens’ experiences and recommendations contribute to future policy development at European level.
