On 4 February 2026, Mundus Bulgaria took part in “Voices of Change: A Dialogue between Youth and Policy-Makers”, a high-level event held at the European Parliament in Brussels.
The meeting was hosted by Pina Picerno, Vice-President of the European Parliament, and organised within the Voices of Change project by the Belgian-Italian Chamber of Commerce. The event brought together young women, civil society representatives and EU institutional actors for a structured dialogue in the heart of European democracy.
At the centre of the event were the voices of young women from 16 countries, who presented policy recommendations developed over the past year. Their work focused on gender equality, social inclusion, intercultural dialogue and youth empowerment, while also reflecting the real experiences of young women with migrant backgrounds.
The discussion went beyond formal presentations. Participants raised concrete concerns, such as difficulties in recognising diplomas and qualifications, limited access to language and mental health support, challenges in the integration of migrant girls in local communities, and everyday administrative barriers faced by young migrants. They engaged directly with representatives of EACEA, DG ENEST and DG JUST, creating a space for open and honest exchange.
Mundus Bulgaria actively contributed to this process through its delegation, including a volunteer from Greece currently living in Vratsa, Bulgaria, who brought in her personal experience and the challenges she faces as a migrant woman in a smaller Bulgarian city.
For us, this was a clear reminder that when young people are given real space to speak – and are taken seriously – they are ready not only to share their experiences, but also to contribute to solutions.
