Future Forge: The first Guide for Youth is here!

The first major milestone of the Future Forge project has been reached! We are excited to share the creation and publication of “Skills and Professions of the Future – A Guide for Youth”, the very first product developed within the project (PR1). *Currently only available in English

The guide was brought to life by 14 young people from Bulgaria, Poland, and Italy, who came together during the project’s first LTTA in Pernik, Bulgaria. Over the course of their work, the group researched, discussed, and selected a list of 50 professions of the future – careers that are expected to be essential and relevant in the coming decades. To make the guide practical and easy to navigate, the professions have been organized into five key categories:

  • Sustainability & Environment

  • Health & Medicine

  • IT & New Technologies

  • Education & Human Development

  • Media & Creativity

Each section introduces and describes future-proof job roles, the skills they require, and ideas on what to study for them, where to work and what the general responsibilities are. The result is a practical and inspiring resource designed to spark curiosity, start conversations, and help young people explore the possibilities that lie ahead.

The job market is changing faster than ever, and so is the way we prepare young people for it. As youth workers, educators, and mentors, we have the opportunity to support the next generation in facing uncertainty with courage, clarity, and curiosity.

This guide is not the final word—it’s just the starting point. It is well-suited for use in schools, career centers, youth clubs, and youth organizations of all kinds. It can also be explored individually by young people who are curious about the future and eager to learn something new about the world we live in.

The “Skills and Professions of the Future – A Guide for Youth” is more than a list of jobs. It is an invitation: to imagine, to prepare, and to take part in shaping the future. We hope you will find the Guide both useful and inspiring — and that it helps you and the young people around you take the next step with confidence.

Access it from the project’s page and feel free to download and spread the word!
