The latest edition of our Erasmus+ Training Course, Sustainability: Growing with Care, has successfully come to an end. For one week, young people and youth workers from different European countries gathered in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, to explore sustainability from multiple perspectives and develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to contribute to more sustainable communities. Through a combination of non-formal learning activities, discussions, and practical exercises, participants explored environmental, social, and economic dimensions of sustainability while reflecting on their own role in creating positive change.
The training began with an exploration of sustainability values and the three pillars of sustainable development. As the programme progressed, participants explored inspiring examples of sustainable initiatives, reflected on challenges faced by their local communities, and worked together to identify needs and possible solutions. Through debates, simulations, and collaborative exercises, they strengthened their critical thinking, teamwork, and project development skills while gaining a deeper understanding of sustainability from different perspectives. The final days of the training were dedicated to transforming ideas into action. Working in international teams, participants developed their own project concepts aimed at promoting sustainability in their communities and presented them to the group.
Beyond the educational activities, participants had the opportunity to discover Stara Zagora, share their cultures during intercultural evenings, and build meaningful connections with people from different backgrounds. The training created a supportive space for learning, collaboration, and personal growth, while inspiring participants to continue promoting sustainable practices within their communities. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to making this edition such a memorable experience and look forward to seeing the positive impact of the ideas and initiatives developed throughout the week.
