The “EU Horizon 2040: Youth Summits for Europe’s Future” (EUH40) project officially launched its activities at the national level with an opening event held on June 30 at the “Magnit” community space in Sofia. The project creates structured spaces for dialogue, empowering Bulgarian youth to actively participate in shaping the future of European integration.
Young people gathered in Sofia to learn about the project, plan their participation in its various stages, and exchange ideas and perspectives regarding future priorities and challenges. The event generated significant interest and brought together a broad group of active young people—primarily students, volunteers, youth workers, and representatives from the non-governmental sector.
A unifying factor for all of them was a pronounced interest in European policies, international relations, and opportunities for active civic engagement. This diversity of viewpoints ensured depth in the subsequent analyses and discussions. The EUH40 project brings together international partners with extensive experience.
The consortium includes Mundus Bulgaria (coordinator of the project activities in Bulgaria), IFOM (Italy), SPARK (Poland), LEARNING SEED (Greece), and ENID (Spain). A key element of the meeting was an open discussion aimed at addressing the priorities and challenges facing European policies today. Participants explored topics related to the role of young people in decision-making processes, sustainable development, democratic participation, and the vision for the future of Europe.
The program concluded with informal networking, which marked an important milestone in the initiative’s development and set the stage for broader activities aimed at disseminating results and engaging stakeholders. The opening event in Sofia proved to be highly fruitful. Beyond presenting the technical and organizational parameters of the project, it also contributed to building a shared vision and innovative ideas, which will subsequently be included in the key international document, the Youth Vision Declaration.
