At the end of May, two of our team members had the great opportunity to participate in a training course on the topic of communication in youth work. “Keys to Communication and Conflict Management in Youth Work” was a 4 day training organised in Arcos de Valdevez, a small town in the north of Portugal. Even though the training was only 4 days long, it was incredibly insightful, inspiring, and filled to the brim with activities.
All of the activities in the training course were using non-formal educational methods, giving us a lot of ideas for future trainings and workshops that we will organise.
Throughout the days, we learned about communication theories, emotional regulation, conflict styles, mediation, Erasmus+ frameworks, Youth Worker competences, and how to navigate working with young people. Over 30 participants were involved in the course, which gave us an amazing opportunity to exchange best practices and gain insight into different forms of Youth Work, both culturally and professionally!
This training course was equally as educational as it was fun. We came back with a head full of ideas and a fresh attitude towards working with young people. Thank you to all the wonderful people who made it happen, especially to our incredible trainers!
