Food4Thought: Launch of the Food4Thought Campaign

Share:

We are excited to announce the launch of the Food4Thought Campaign, an initiative to make urban agriculture accessible and engaging to young people across the country. The campaign aims to disseminate the educational materials and findings of the Food4Thought project through a series of interactive events and online activities, and to foster a community of young urban gardeners.

To accomplish this, the campaign will include three key activities – two in-person events and one online initiative. The first event will take place on April 8, 2025 at the National Vocational High School of Forestry “Hristo Botev” in Velingrad. There, our team will meet with 11th and 12th grade students to present the Food4Thought project and the knowledge it provides. We will also engage the students in a small workshop called “Create your urban garden!”, in which we will encourage them to use the educational materials of the project’s platform and which will build on the participants’ theoretical knowledge of urban gardening. The session is designed to stimulate interest in urban gardening and motivate young people to become pioneers of sustainable living in their local communities.

The second event will take place on April 22, 2025 at the cozy and creative community space “Magnit” in Sofia. This urban gardening workshop will give participants the opportunity to explore what urban gardening is, how it can impact our environment and well-being, and how we can take action as a community. What’s more, everyone will learn how to plant and transplant their own herbs and vegetables – and take them home! We invite everyone to follow our social media pages for the upcoming call for participants.

The campaign also continues online with a series of virtual gardening tutorials on our Instagram and Facebook profiles. In collaboration with our partners at the Spanish NGO Espacio Ladano, based in Rudozem, we will be sharing video tutorials with tips, tricks and easy first steps into the world of urban gardening. These short videos are designed to inspire and inform anyone curious about growing their own food in the city.

In addition to these core activities, we will also promote the Food4Thought platform and resources through other events, including a session at an Erasmus+ training course in Sofia and participation in the WorkIn Stara Zagora job fair. These events will provide new opportunities to share the project’s story and engage more people in the mission of urban agriculture.

Through this campaign, we hope to empower young people in Bulgaria to connect with nature, build greener communities, and become active participants in creating a more sustainable urban future. Stay tuned for the results!
